Hello, Explorer! ⛡️

How are you doing?

On my side, I’ve been squeezing the last few days before I start my new job on Monday. Not only polishing RAR Islands with more fixes and improvements, but also trying to wrap up a few personal things (some random Udemy courses I had pending, some songs polishing, and other bits!).

I’m really happy with how RAR Islands is working right now. It feels stable, players seem to be enjoying it, and overall everything is going smoothly.

I still have a couple of big milestones ahead: localization (multiple languages!) and a whole batch of post-game ideas I want to implement. BUT since I’m starting the new job, I’m not sure how fast I’ll be able to tackle these, at least during the first days or weeks. Knowing myself, I’ll probably end up working on the game during nights and weekends as usual, but bear with me if things take a bit longer than during this last, very productive stretch πŸ™‚

I’d love to share more about ideas and future projects, but I’ll leave that for future posts… so let’s jump straight into the changelog!

Update 0.9.8#

✨ Improvements#

  • 🏝 You can now rename Islands using a new item from the Cartographer: the Cartographer Stone (you can also craft it!)
  • πŸ™ You can now rename Cities (Tier 5 Villages) by talking to the Chief Settler (for a small gold “paperwork fee”)
  • 🧰 The Workshop can now repair tools! (The Tinkerer’s Workshop is now exclusively for Tinkering)
  • πŸ“– Dungeon Foe drops are now displayed in the Atlas β†’ Dungeons tab
  • πŸ€ Added new Skills: Foe Expert and Foe Master, which reveal Foe stats during Dungeon combat
  • πŸ“± Added an accessibility setting that stops exploration whenever you find something on the Island

🐞 Fixes#

  • πŸ› Fixed inventory sorting Aβ†’Z
  • πŸ› Other minor bugs solved.

A Quick Note πŸ’¬#

As always, thank you for your support: whether it’s a review, a message on Discord, a post or comment on Reddit, an email, or a donation… Every kind word means a lot and gives me warmth and motivation to keep creating these little games of mine. Thank you πŸ’œ
